Night of Sukkot – Feast of Tabernacles. Preparation demands attention to details but the imagination also plays a significant role. Not surprisingly my main area of interest when I'm in a new city is to check out firstly the food shops and secondly the kitchen equipment emporia. Planning a trip can be an interesting experience. Helsinki is one of my favourite cities; I think the quality of life in Helsinki is second to none – even in winter. We need to 'dream a bit about our destination in order to generate the energy required The great wind described in 'Acts' is reminiscent of the 'ruah' of God breathing life into the chaos of nothingness – 'the big bang! Explain to your friends and family that as we celebrate Passover and the Feast of Unleavened, we ask God for the power to choose a life not dominated by sin and live into the freedom found in obedience to His Kingdom ways. Removing food products that contain leaven (yeast, baking soda, baking powder, sodium bicarbonate, autolyzed yeast, & yeast extract) has its roots in ancient Passover preparation. The sharing of the Eucharist of course is our food for the journey. I went there in June 2001 with my Mum and after we had done the main obligatory sites in the morning, I went off alone in the afternoon to do a bit of exploring. And how much more I should celebrate this day because of what God has done in my life.
